Study Abroad

Hoping to Study Abroad while at Simmons?

It's easy to study abroad.  With careful planning ahead, any student can spend a summer, semester, or year abroad. Here's what you should do next:

Apply for a Passport

Forms are available in the Education Abroad Office (MCB Room E-110) or at the State Department website. Take your completed application in person to:

USPS Passport Acceptance
1295 Beacon Street
Brookline, MA 02146
Tel. (617) 738-1776

Talk with Students and Your Advisor

Talk with students who have studied abroad, meet with your academic advisor, and plan ahead. With the right planning, you can fit a short-term course, a semester, or even a year abroad into your schedule. If you plan to study in a non-English speaking country, enroll in language courses as needed to be sure your language skills are ready.

Research Overseas Programs

Research overseas programs. The web is a great place to start.  Visit www.iiepassport.org and www.studyabroad.com to find programs that might interest you.  You can also refer to the Simmons"Study Abroad Programs" and "Helpful Study Abroad Websites" handouts.

Stop by the Education Abroad Office

Stop by the Education Abroad Office in MCB Room C-313. You can browse through our brochures from programs around the globe and get information about available Simmons study abroad scholarships that are awarded every fall semester.

Make an Appointment

Make an appointment to speak with Hilary Wilson, the Education Abroad Program Manager. All students planning to go abroad for a semester, academic year or summer need to call 617-521-2128 to schedule an appointment with Hilary.  Hilary will help you with each step of the study abroad process to make sure that you have a successful international experience.

Attend the Study Abroad Fair

Attend the COF Study Abroad Fair every year in September and February. This is an excellent opportunity to speak with study abroad program representatives, learn more about travel programs offered by Simmons and other COF schools.

Check out the Travel Programs Page

Check out the Travel Programs page for more information on Simmons short-term study options. The Simmons Travel Programs are a unique option for students in any class.  The Travel Programs are spring or fall semester courses that culminate in two to five weeks of intensive study and travel at the end of the semester.
