Birth and Death

4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: SOCI 101. Explores the interrelationship between birth and death as literal and metaphorical realities. Examines how structural inequalities shape people's birth and death rituals and how race, class, nation, and gender impact birthing and dying processes. Explores birth and death as uniquely individual and profoundly social processes.
