Sociology of Food
4 sem. hrs. Prereq.: SOCI 101 or SOCI 241. Examines how social groups and institutions influence our production, distribution, and consumption of food. Food is a lens through which we can examine the values of social institutions, such as the family, agricultural and food policy, and the welfare system. We will discuss how social movements are organizing around food politics in the U.S. and elsewhere.
