New Course! - Influential Women Leaders

Date: May 12, 2009

This Fall, an exciting new Honors course will be offered by Ausra Park, professor of Political Science and International Relations.

HON 310: Political Psychology of Influential Women Leaders will explore seven influential women politicians from around the world using psychological profiling tools.

  • How do women politicians act in politics?
  • Why do individuals behave the way they do in international politics?
  • Why do policy makers decide the way they do?
  • What was it that motivated a particular leader to act?
  • Why did events turn out as they did while a female leader was in office?

In search of answers to these questions, HON 310 will explore the leaders' psychology through personalities, thought processes, feelings, motivations, values, personal/cultural beliefs, and emotions. All these factors will help students build a necessary basis for understanding political decisions and actions of influential women leaders.
