Ninth Annual Economics Alumnae/Student Networking Dinner
Date: March 27, 2009March 27, 2009
The Networking Dinner has been a great success since its inception in 2001. Several alumnae return to the Networking Dinner year after year, bringing news about their own professional development, internship opportunities for students, and both general and specific career advice.
The networking dinner is structured (1) to facilitate conversations about internship, employment, and graduate school opportunities available to Economics graduates, and (2) to foster real networking between and among students and alumnae.
The evening also includes a presentation of the George J. Kachavos Award, which since 1995 has recognized the senior Economics major "who demonstrates a particular zeal for the study of economics and who, in the opinion of the Department of Economics, is most likely to excel in the practical application of economics in her career."
This year's dinner was attended by new President Helen Drinan and her husband David and she wrote in her weekly college address, "It is a great event for networking and professional support, and the tenor in the room was fabulous. The advice offered by alums to students was from the heart and realistic, and all of us were touched by the caring for one another."
