Happy New Year MMX

One New Year's Eve when I was very young, and my parents were out at a party, I stayed up late and watched television. There was an old Jack Benny movie on called The Horn Blows at Midnight. In this comedy fantasy, an angel struggles with the earthly pleasures that he has been commanded to end at the stroke of midnight. I think that I saw it only once, that night, but I have remembered it to this day.

My New Year's movie is Bobby Morse's performance as Truman Capote in Tru. I have seen it many times, always between Christmas and New Year's Eve. It is a sad, almost heartbreaking, portrait of an artist struggling with his demons, and missing his friends.

May we all be surrounded with friends, and parties, and the richness of the Night.
