Dr. Vieira is a full-time associate professor. He earned a B.A., from Rhode Island College, an M.B.A., from Bryant University, and a Ph.D., from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Vieira teaches introductory and advanced advertising courses, as well as Public Relations and theory classes in the undergraduate and graduate programs. He has developed the information architecture and constructed a number of online courses. He has over twenty years of experience in marketing management and strategic marketing, and has consulted for a number of European companies.

Professor Vieira's students have developed ad campaigns for clients such as multi-national corporations, the U. S. Government, and non-profit organizations.

His research interests are in cognitive motivation and involvement in mediated message processing; consumer behavior theory; persuasive communication; integrated marketing communication; and advanced statistical methodologies. He is published in Communication Research, American Journal of Media Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of Food Services, Journal of Corporate Communications, and Journal of Communication Studies. His has also presented more than twelve conference manuscripts at venues such as the International Communication Association, the National Communication Association, International Society for Research on Emotions, and Society of Experimental Psychology Convention. Additionally, Professor Vieira has written a number of editorial pieces on social issues published by the Association for Education in Journalism, and Mass Communication.

In his spare time, Dr. Vieira writes children's stories and paints.
