Interests

I have always been intrigued by the mechanisms underlying the many functions of the human body. Each of our organ systems is composed of cells that receive and respond to a myriad of local and central signaling that determines the level and nature of their activity. As the instructor for the Human Anatomy & Physiology sequence, I am dedicated to helping my students appreciate and understand the details of the delicate physiological balances that exist in the body, whose proper functioning often means the difference between health and disease.

I am also a clinical exercise physiologist and health educator, with experience in occupational and hospital based wellness and sports medicine. My goal for students in my exercise science courses is to enable them to use their knowledge of anatomy and physiology as a basis for understanding and implementing effective exercise prescription for different populations.
