Juried by Nina Nielsen and Magdalena Campos-Pons, "The Persistence of Paint" demonstrates the enduring vitality of painting as an expressive medium. The show features recent works by five women artists:

Diane Ayott fuses abstract mark making with subtle washes of pigment to capture fleeting nuances of shape and form. Combining paint, pigment, beeswax, and metallic leaf, Susan Metzger creates ethereal abstractions suggesting landscapes. The paintings of Katherine Muench employ raw colors and evocative texts to testify to the injustice and inhumanity of war. Francie Randolph layers computer-generated botanical images, varnishes, and graphite to explore the raw beauty of nature as well as the cycles of life and growth. Meshing feminine imagery with pages torn from her own journals, Rachel Perry Welty probes issues of loss, memory, and time.
