Cynthia Nartonis:
Currents and Cross Currents

Boston printmaker Cynthia Nartonis will display a range of work representing people and places she loves and cherishes during this exhibit. An opening reception with artist's remarks will be held April 19.

Nartonis communicates meaning in her art through an examination of specific objects. "Sometimes the objects are grouped artificially, sometimes naturally. But most often the object is single, frontal, direct," said Nartonis.

The use of objects as iconic images has been a part of Nartonis' work for decades. "Currents and Cross Currents" features one of her most cherished icons -- the image of the boat, which represents Nartonis' relationship with her father. Other recurring images include water lilies, black irises and other plant forms. The featured medium in this exhibit is a silk-screened monotype applied with a regular oil brush.

Exhibit hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mon-Fri. Gallery events are free and open to the public. The building is wheelchair accessible. For more information, call 617-521-2268.
