My work reflects an interest in the mysterious structures and events in nature. I want to express the futility of trying to pin down in any finite way the identity of relationships between natural forms. A variety of approaches are used to convey the sense that each form might possess some necessary although ambiguous function. For example, some organisms are depicted in a cartoon-like matter to counter the visceral rawness of the suggested biological events. The work is as much about my own building of an image is it is a depiction of enigmatic organic processes. These images encompass mutation, evolution, repulsion, attraction, familiarity, strangeness, deterioration, and the potential for new existence.
