Fees

For all Simmons undergraduates (except Dix Scholars), and for graduate students and Dix scholars who live on campus:
  • Required payment of the College student health fee allows use of the Health Center free of most charges
  • Immunizations are not covered under the health fee
For graduate students and Dix scholars who live off campus who use the Health Center:
  • If covered by school insurance, Health Center will bill insurer (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) for services with student paying a small co-pay at time of visit.
  • If covered by any other insurance, payment will be requested at time of visit. Receipts will be provided for student to submit claim to insurer. Check with your insurer to see if reimbursement will be available.
For students from SMFA:
If covered by school insurance (Consolidated), insurer will be billed for services. If covered by any other insurance, payment will be requested at time of visit. Receipts will be provided for student to submit claim to insurer. Check with your insurer to see if reimbursement will be available.
Prescription Drugs
The Health Center is prevented by state law from dispensing prescription medication. Students therefore fill prescriptions at a local pharmacy. Reimbursement of cost depends on the provisions of each student's health insurance policy. Check with your insurer to determine what coverage is available.
Services Received Outside of the Health Center
Referrals for lab tests, X-rays, specialty care and other services offered outside of the Health Center are usually covered by the student's health insurance. Very occasionally students may be billed directly for care not covered by insurance. Students should be familiar with the coverage offered by their individual policies.
