Susan Antonelli

Dean for Student Life

Susan Antonelli returned to Simmons in 2011 after spending the prior 11 years working at colleges and universities around the Boston area. Previously, Susan served as the Dean of Students at Wheelock and Cambridge Colleges and the senior student and academic affairs leader at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. Susan earned her Bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Marketing Communications at Simmons and her Master of Education degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Susan oversees Student Leadership & Activities, Residence Life, and Spiritual Life and serves as a resource for students who are in need of assistance, advice, coaching or just someone to talk to. In her free time, Susan loves to cook and bake, spend time with her family, and root for and worry about Boston sports teams. Susan also holds a Personal Training certification with the American Council on Exercise and works as a personal trainer in the wee hours of the morning.

Nancy Nienhuis

Associate Dean

Nancy Nienhuis joined the Office of Student Affairs in October of 2016 after working for many years with graduate students at Andover Newton Theological School and Harvard University. She has her doctorate in Religion, Gender, and Culture from Harvard, and when not at Simmons Nancy teaches classes at graduate theological schools to future clergy on social justice issues and on religious responses to gender based violence. She also does research and writing in this area. When not teaching or at work at Simmons Nancy loves to kayak and create multi-course meals for friends. She lives with her spouse Tammy and a very enthusiastic terrier named Mattie. At Simmons, Nancy is the Associate Dean of Student Life. In that role she oversees the Health Center, the Counseling Center, the Honor Board, and has a special focus on supporting Simmons graduate students.

Michele Almeida

Student Services Specialist

Michele Almeida joined the Office of Student Affairs in August of 2017 after working for over ten years with students with disabilities at community colleges and private institutions in Massachusetts. Prior to joining the Simmons University community, Michele served as a Disability Counselor at North Shore Community College where she supported a diverse group of students in becoming self-advocates and discovering their voice. Prior to her work at North Shore Community College, Michele served as Director of Accessibility Services at Fisher College, overseeing and coordinating academic accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. In her role as Student Services Specialist, Michele will serve as a resource for students in accessing support services as well as coming back to Simmons after a personal or medical leave. In her free time, Michele is a passionate animal advocate and can often be found researching animal issues and rallying for improved animal welfare and protection– all with her two cats, Eva and Ellie, by her side.
