About the Campus

New Social Work Building

The SSW is located in a new, handicap-accessible, state-of-the-art building. One Palace Road provides a carefully crafted, technologically sophisticated environment for learning, teaching, research, and administration. We share the building with the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, as well as the Simmons centers for information technology, career development, and academic support. Our many technology resources include electronic classrooms, wireless networking, multimedia services, and free technology training for faculty, staff, and students. The school is conveniently located on the main campus at Simmons College, in Boston's Longwood Medical Area.

Around Boston

Boston is an historic city replete with fine museums, colleges and universities, an exciting sports scene, great restaurants, parks, theater, and architecture. It is a city with a wealth of agencies, hospitals and schools, providing an exciting setting for social work training.

Simmons's location - bordering the Emerald Necklace, a string of parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead - places it along a green stretch frequented by walkers, joggers, and nature lovers. Its neighbors include two of the finest cultural resources: the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Nearby attractions include the Charles River and Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Beyond the Fenway, the city's other neighborhoods - Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Cambridge, the North End, the South End - are attractions in themselves.

The "T," or Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, takes School of Social Work students - and the nearly three million people who live and work here - all around town on 69 miles of track. Several T stops are near the campus, and Simmons College runs a regular shuttle service to make travel more convenient.
