CANS Clinical Coordinator

CWM's Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) Program provides extensive resources for training large groups of professionals that work with children and adolescents. The CANS instrument, developed by John S. Lyons, is designed to enhance communication among those who plan care for children and adolescents. CWM serves as the primary CANS training and technical assistance provider for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS). Our team has trained more than 10,000 mental health providers in the use of CANS as a tool for information integration, communication and service planning. For example, we designed the training program and certification process for the Massachusetts Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) information integration tool — at the request of the state's Medicaid program (MassHealth).
Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a CANS Clinical Coordinator responsible for providing clinical and content expertise in implementing and evaluating CANS training and support. The CANS Coordinator will participate in: reviewing online training, certification, and support materials; informing updates to the training curriculum/website through expertise in behavioral health; conducting CQI of the training program; and contributing clinical knowledge to address topic areas such as incorporating CANS in a wraparound model of practice. Research Mental Health Clinician

Research Mental Health Clinicians needed to deliver a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — based intervention for Latino patients enrolled in a research study through the Center for Multicultural Mental Health Research. The 8-10 session intervention addresses mental health and substance use problems as well as HIV risk. Specific duties include administration of the intervention in-person or by telephone to study participants recruited from Primary Care Clinics, in Spanish or in English.
Clinicians will participate in training according to research study protocols, which will include 12 hours of didactic instruction and role play as well as recorded observation of sessions. Clinician will provide flexible patient intervention sessions within a week of enrollment into the research study, and take part in a weekly supervisory session. Clinician will participate in follow up with patients to facilitate continued participation in the study and will take part in provision of necessary documentation following research protocols and requirements.
Clinicians should have available 10-14 hours a week to offer treatment and 2-4 hours of supervision.

The position will be based full-time in Waltham, MA or Washington, DC.
The Senior Prevention Specialist leads key projects and initiatives within the team and across SPRC teams, as well as supervising 1-2 Prevention Specialists. The position is also the primary TA provider and point of contact for a portfolio of federally funded grantees and state suicide prevention coordinators. Responsibilities for this position include:
· Customized consultation to build client capacity in 11 core competency areas to improve the success of their suicide prevention efforts;
· Conceptualizing and designing group events and consultation that help clients think strategically about program development, implementation and evaluation;
· Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of webinars, online training, and virtual peer exchange opportunities to help clients learn and develop new skills;
· Working with national organizations, as appropriate, to pool knowledge and develop approaches for suicide prevention among diverse populations and settings; and
· Identifying and supporting the development of tools, resources, trainings and best practices that can help stakeholders achieve their objectives.
Senior Prevention Specialists report to the Prevention Support Program Manager, who leads the SPRC Prevention Support Team. Some regional/national travel is required (not to exceed 30 days/year), and a flexible work schedule may be needed, depending on constituent needs. SPRC (http://www.sprc.org) is a resource center funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to advance the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention and build the national suicide prevention infrastructure.
· contribute to and participate as a member of the 11-person SPRC Prevention Support Team
· serve as the point of contact and provide TA for an assigned portfolio of federal suicide prevention grantees and other stakeholders
· supervise one or more Prevention Specialists within the team, including performance assessments; regular coaching and feedback; and support of professional development and growth
· oversee and manage the Prevention Support Team's virtual training and TA portfolio, including webinars, peer-to-peer learning, and other group events, including planning, implementation, and evaluation · lead the development of group training, TA, and peer exchange approaches for stakeholders, including webinars, online exchange, and other modalities
· advise on, develop, and support team workplans, processes, and systems
· serve as a liaison with other SPRC and other EDC teams to coordinate with and support their work · deliver presentations to state and national audiences, as appropriate
· document services provided into an internal database and through other reporting mechanisms · other duties as assigned
· Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree or teacher certification or equivalent combination of training and education in a related field strongly preferred)
· With Bachelor's degree, 5—8 years related experience in a related area
· With Master's degree, 3—5 years related experience (as above)
· Understanding of basic public health principles and approach to prevention
· Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently, including oversight of multiple activities and deadlines
· Significant experience in conceptualizing and designing interactive virtual learning opportunities, such as webinars, online trainings, and/or communities of practice, using adult learning principles
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with multiple teams
· Experience in providing information and support (technical assistance, information services, or similar functions) via phone and email strongly preferred
· Experience with prevention or health promotion at the state level strongly preferred
· Experience in the mental health or suicide prevention field strongly preferred
· Experience in local and community-based program evaluation strongly preferred
· Experience working with diverse communities and cultures strongly preferred
· Training or experience in surveillance and epidemiology a plus
