Job Description
Background: The Second Step (TSS) seeks to break the cycle of domestic violence, one family at a time, by providing services to women and their children that enable them to remain free from abusive relationships and lead productive lives. The women who enter our program have already successfully taken the first step away from domestic violence; we provide and connect them with a broad range of services/referrals including transitional housing, job training and placement, legal services, parenting support, and psychological counseling.
Job Duration: May 12 – August 29, 2008
Hours: Full-time 40 Hours a week. Roughly 9-5. Once a week 12:00 – 8:00 pm, the point is to connect with residents.
Primary Objectives: The Case Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a supportive residential environment for survivors and their children to move forward in their lives. The residence typically houses 8 families at a time. The Case Manager is expected to implement case management tasks within the philosophical framework of the agency - advocacy stance, trauma-informed perspective, nurturing while holding residents accountable.
Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates need to have case management experience, preferably working with survivors of domestic violence/trauma. It is helpful to have a background working with substance use/abuse issues. While a Master's degree is preferred, life and job experience are definitely considered. Applicants must be comfortable operating as a team member in a multi-cultural, residential setting. A successful candidate will be flexible, have a sense of humor, and be committed to serving families that are determined to move beyond domestic violence.

• Attend Board meetings upon invitation, provide program report and work with members or sub-committees as necessary. Attend community-based meetings to build and maintain a relationship with area agencies.
• Attend Sunday evening host site transition each week to connect with the coordinator, reinforce the support of the congregation in addition to the individual rules and guidelines of the host site, and fully represent the Network at the host site every week.
