Bilingual MH Clinician/Supervisor of Latino Services

We are currently seeking a licensed or license eligible, bilingual (Spanish/English), Master’s level mental health clinician. This position will provide clinical services and supervision of the Latino Services Team, which includes case management staff with specialty areas.

The successful candidate will be flexible, with excellent assessment, treatment and documentation skills, and the ability to use them in a supportive, collaborative and compassionate environment and will be eager to creatively engage our homeless guests, and enjoy the challenge of utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with both individual psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups.
• Experience with population with co-occurring disorders a plus.
• Awareness of issues common to those who are experiencing homelessness.
• Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred

Community Services Coordinator

Background: The Second Step (TSS) seeks to end the cycle of domestic violence, one family at a time, by providing services to women and their children that enable them to remain free from abusive relationships and lead empowered lives. We provide and connect clients with a broad range of services/referrals including safety planning, support and advocacy, access to emergency funding or other grant programs, transitional housing, basic case management, medical, dental, therapeutic and legal services.

Job Title: Community Services Coordinator

Primary Objectives: The Community Services Coordinator works closely with the Community Program Director to support survivors of Domestic Violence living in the community, collaborates in the planning, development and evaluation of programs, and is responsible for other activities as assigned.

Hours: 40 Hours a week. Typically 9-5, and includes regular evening responsibilities.

Primary Duties include but are not limited to:
• Providing case management, safety planning, referrals, and support services to clients
• Advocating on behalf of clients in areas such as the medical field, with landlords & utility companies, school systems, and other social service agencies
• Training, planning, and administrative duties for the IMAGINE Mentor Program

Additional Responsibilities include:
• Leading psycho-educational groups
• Providing community outreach
• Coordinating annual Holiday Gift Drive which serves 150+ families per year and involves extensive donor relations.
• Supervising volunteers and interns
• Facilitating primary prevention workshops for a wide variety of audiences

Requirements/Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred. Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in the field of Domestic Violence required.

Child & Family Programs Specialist

I. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Horizons Housing Program is a transitional housing program serving domestic violence survivors and their children. Housed at two confidential locations in Boston, Horizons offers case management and other services in a safe, supportive environment. The Child and Family Programs Specialist works at both Horizons locations. The Specialist designs and implements programs for children living at Horizons; coordinates workshops for the adults at Horizons; serves as a liaison to the Horizons for Homeless Children volunteer program; and supervises family move-ins and move-outs from the program.

III. ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION

1. DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVITIES: The Child and Family Programs Specialist is responsible for overseeing activities for children living at Horizons. The Specialist assesses the needs of children in the program; designs activities to assist children’s adjustment to transitional housing; develops and oversees playgroups; schedules and supervises volunteers from Horizons for Homeless Children (HHC); provides ongoing support to HHC volunteers; communicates with guests about their children; provides parent education and coaching; and makes appropriate referrals in conjunction with case management staff. The Specialist is the primary liaison to staff at Horizons for Homeless Children.

The Specialist also establishes relationships with organizations providing workshops in such areas as: healthy relationships; child development and parenting; financial literacy; self-advocacy; and general lifeskills. The Specialist coordinates workshop presentations for both Horizons locations.

2. OPERATIONAL SUPPORT: Supervises guest move-ins and exits; maintains inventory lists for rooms/apartments; orders supplies for guest rooms and common areas; cleans and prepares rooms for new guests; greets new guests and orients them to the Horizons program.

3. SERVICE DELIVERY: Carries out all services and related activities to ensure and support daily operations in accordance with program standards and outcome requirements, works in collaboration with staff and volunteers; identifies, recommends and implements services in response to evolving participant and program needs; liaison and referrals with other service organizations and across programs at Crittenton Women’s Union; collects and processes data and information to meet program requirements and to inform and support decision-making; prepares and disseminates routine and special reports as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications

1. Intermediate knowledge of the effects of domestic violence on adults and children, and sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence survivors.

2. Skill and creativity in leading activities for children.

3. Intermediate knowledge of child development, including techniques for assessing development.

4. Basic skill in parent education and coaching, particularly with families under stress.

5. General knowledge of scope and activities of community social service and education resources in order to design effective workshops.

6. Ability to design and implement services in a culturally competent manner.

7. Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to take initiative in a fast paced environment.

V. EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in child development, child life, social work, early intervention, human services, or related field. Minimum one year experience in a related position. Proficiency in Spanish helpful. Must complete 20 hours of domestic violence training in order to begin working with families. (Training will be provided.)

VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires prolonged sitting (including on the floor), some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eye sight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Work may be stressful and fast paced at times. Requires some evening hours.

Description: Responsible for case management, family and group therapy for 8 residents and individual therapy for assigned residents. Responsible for providing clinical leadership to the staff in the areas of sexual exploitation and group home programming. Is a member of the administrative team and reports to the Program Director and clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities
• Provide family and group therapy to all clients and families in a strength-based, client-centered framework
• Manage client weekly appointment/activity schedule and review with residential staff (medical appointments, work schedules, therapy appointment, home passes, etc…)
• Manage client school schedules and educational programming.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and apply stages of change criteria to any changes in levels of care within the GL continuum.
• Attend all required program and external meetings
• Provide weekly goal-directed individual therapy or treatment support meetings to all clients
• Comply with agency requirements and deadlines for written reports
• Design and implement the group therapy program.
• Design and implement the parent support/education group program
• Participate in regular collaboration and teamwork with treatment team at GL and outside collaterals.
• Provide staff training on sexual exploitation and clinical topics, as needed
• Assist Program Director in providing information and education on treating sexually exploited girls at Germaine Lawrence.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Master’s degree in related human service area
• Attainment of maximum licensure based on degree and year post-master’s
• Relevant clinical internship and/or job experience providing clinical services with adolescents and their families, preferably with multi-problem families
• Past experience in residential program and/or experience with state systems preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Bi-lingual Spanish skills
