Job Description
Emerge, a counseling and educational organization for people who abuse their intimate partners has a
fee-for-service position of Latino Program Coordinator and Group Leader. Emerge provides groups for abusive
men in Cambridge and Roxbury. As a group leader, you will receive training and weekly supervision.
Duties: Co-facilitation of up to four weekly Spanish-speaking groups for men who batter. Attend weekly
supervision; maintain telephone and written contact with probation departments, other service providers,
and victims. Plan groups with co-facilitators. Provide program outreach to referral sources and conduct
orientations/intakes for new clients.
Hours: 20-25 hours per week to start, with benefits. Must be available one weekday evening and one weekend
morning for a total of 8 group hours. The 12-17 non-group hours must occur Monday through Friday at the
Emerge office in Cambridge between 9 AM and 5 PM.
Requirements/Qualifications
• Knowledge of multi-cultural male socialization.
• Must be bi-lingual in Spanish/English
• Must have excellent writing skills in English
• Must have basic computer word processing and email skills
• A commitment to ending abuse in intimate relationships
• Must attend 24-hour Department of Public Health-designated training on group interventions for
abusers, and observe six group sessions at a DPH-designated training site, prior to employment
• Teaching or group facilitation experience is helpful but not necessary

Job Description
The mission of the Commonwealth Corps is to engage Massachusetts residents of all ages and backgrounds in direct service to rebuild communities, address unmet community needs, and increase volunteerism. More than 250 Commonwealth Corps members will serve up to twelve months in full-time or part-time capacities at 36 designated nonprofits and public entities. What they have in common is a desire to put their talents and ideas to use in the service of their communities and the Commonwealth.
Based in Lower Roxbury, Commonwealth Land Trust, Inc. (CLT) provides supportive affordable housing and
social services for more than 650 very low income individuals and families, some of whom are struggling
with a history of chronic homelessness, mental and physical illnesses, and/or addictions. The primary goal
of the STEPS (Support, Training, Education & Property Services) Project is to help CLT residents who
are at a high risk of returning to homelessness, achieve and maintain stable housing, and acquire the daily
living skills they need to provide for themselves and their families. CLT’s STEPS Project staff
provide affordable rental housing in historic buildings across Boston, Chelsea and Lawrence, MA and provide
on-site access to case management and social services.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Assist low-income individuals with the housing application paperwork required by CLT and the
appropriate housing authority; act as a liaison between the housing applicant, property manager,
maintenance team, finance department, and housing authority.
• Build relationships with CLT residents and inform them of available supportive services through
regular outreach; provide any assistance residents may need to access supportive services.
• Inform residents about VIEW (volunteering, involvement, education, or work) activities available to
them and recruit residents to participate.
• Lead activities that will increase resident involvement in VIEW: at a minimum this will include a
tenant survey and a functioning Resident Advisory Board (RAB).
• Maintain accurate and complete progress notes on Commonwealth Corps activities undertaken, assist
Windsor House housing applicants, increase resident access to supportive services, increase resident
participation in VIEW activities.
