Career Services at Simmons School of Social Work

School of Social Work students have access to the Simmons College Career Education Center (CEC), a comprehensive full-service career center. The services of the CEC (my.simmons.edu/cec) include individual career coaching, career workshops, job fairs and a state of the art career library. These services are also available to all alumni.

The School of Social Work and the Career Education Center sponsor career events throughout the year including the annual Career Connections event and other career related workshops. Career Events Brochure.

Career Panel and Networking Reception (Career Connections)

A panel of social work executives from leading area employers discusses current job trends in social work and offers job search tips and advice. The 2009-2010 panel featured Martha Burke (‘78SW), Director of Social Work Services, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mat McCall ('07SW) Educational Partnerships Manager, Home For Little Wanderers , Judith Talbert, Social Work Executive, VA Boston Health Care Systems and Jennifer Martin, Boston Senior Home Care. The panel was followed by a vibrant networking reception where current students and alumni socialized and shared job search strategies.

Career Fair (Career Connections)

The Social Work Career Fair brings together employers from Massachusetts , New York City and select national organizations to meet with current students and recent alums. In 2009-2010, employers representing 25 organizations attended, including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, South End Community Health Center and YOU INC. SSW Career Fair, March 2, 2010 Exhibitor List. Ninety-Eight per cent of participating employers stated that they planned to invite attendees for a second round of interviews.
