The Application Process

The Application Process

Applicants can apply online, download and print an application, or call the SSW admission office at 617-521-3939 to request an application. In recent years, the number of qualified applicants has greatly exceeded available openings. Therefore, we strongly encourage early application submission.

 

M.S.W. Application Process

Please submit a completed application file that includes the following:

  • completed application form
  • nonrefundable application fee of $45
  • 3-5 page personal statement of career goals and how the program supports them
  • official college transcripts, indicating graduation date
  • three letters of professional or academic recommendation
  • Resume 
  • TOEFL scores, if English is not the first language
  • source of income statement (for international students)

Filing Dates

We are now accepting applications for the fall of 2012 and spring of 2013.

Fall 2012 (September start date) 

  • Advanced Standing: February 15th, 2012
  • Full-time Program: Rolling admissions until May 30th, 2012 
  • Extended Program (3-4 years): Rolling admissions until July 30th, 2012 
  • Transfer Students: February 15th, 2012
  • For DCF and Mass Council applicants: January 3rd, 2012

Spring 2013 (January start date only for the extended program)

  • General admission deadline: Rolling admission until October 30th, 2012

It is the applicant’s responsibility for mailing the application packet as a complete unit. Incomplete applications packets will not be reviewed for admission until all materials are received.

Ph.D. Application Process

Please submit a completed application file that includes the following:

  • completed application form
  • nonrefundable application fee
  • official transcripts of all past or current academic work
  • current resume
  • written case presentation
  • three letters of professional or academic recommendation
  • personal statement of career goals and how the program supports them
  • TOEFL scores, if English is not the first language
  • Miller Analogies Test scores within the past five years
  • interview with a member of the Doctoral Committee after favorable review of admission materials

Filing Date

February 1, 2012
