Charu Stokes, M.S.W., LCSW

Charu Stokes is a SAMHSA Council on Social Work Education Fellow and doctoral candidate at Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. Her research interests focus on African American women living with HIV/AIDS and kinship care. She received her M.S.W. from the University of Michigan in 2004. Her clinical experience includes working as a substance abuse and mental health counselor, child welfare worker, and school social worker. Ms. Stokes also has international experience living in Malawi as an IFESH Fellow with Save the Children and as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in South Africa. This past year, she was selected as one of the six 2011 Diversity Fellows at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She co-taught a summer Research Methods course at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare.
