Adjunct Faculty

Candace Saunders, M.S.W., LICSW

Candace Saunders has been clinical instructor at several Boston area graduate schools for many years. She has taught child psychopathology, child and adolescent treatment, implications of racism, and human behavior in the social environment. She was director of professional education at Boston University School of Social Work for eight years before joining the Simmons faculty in 2007 where she is the coordinator and an instructor in SSW’s Post Graduate Clinical Certificate Program in The Multi-Contextual and Relational Treatment of Trauma.

In recent years Ms. Saunders has pursued an interest in studying and teaching about chronic psychological trauma and its impact on neurobiological and attachment development. She has presented widely to clinicians throughout New England on this broad topic.

Ms. Saunders is also a consultant and instructor for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, where she has helped develop trainings in trauma informed practice for DCF social workers at all levels. She has a private supervision and clinical practice in Newton, MA.
