Francis Kuehn, M.S.W., M. Ed., LICSW

Fran Kuehn graduated from the Boston University School of Social Work with a M.S.W. in 2000 and earned a M.Ed. in Special Education from the Boston University School of Education in 2001. For the past 10 years he has worked as a school social worker at Brookline High School providing counseling, crisis intervention and consulting services to a diverse group of students, teachers and families. Mr. Kuehn was a key member of the team that created the BRYT (Brookline Resilient Youth Team) program, which is designed to support students who have separations from school due to emotional or medical crises. Since 2009 he has been the director of the ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Learning) program at Brookline High. This self-contained special education program serves students with multiple learning and emotional disabilities through the provision of academic and therapeutic services. He also has a private practice focused on adolescents and young adults in Newton, MA.

Mr. Kuehn has been teaching at Simmons School of Social Work since 2007. He developed a new course to teach emerging social workers how to navigate the complex environment of schools and how to support the mental health needs of students in schools. He has conducted workshops on meeting the mental health needs of young people in schools through the Boston University Professional Education program.
