Seth Kleinman, M.S.W., LICSW

Seth Kleinman is currently the social worker for a public K-5 school on the North Shore, where his duties range from crisis intervention, to managing special education caseloads, to teaching culture and diversity lessons. This past year, he created and implemented a school-wide anxiety awareness and management program. In addition to working as a school social worker, he serves as a mental health specialist on a federal medical disaster relief team, and he teaches a social work licensing test preparation course. He is also involved with two NASW-MA committees—Child & Youth, and Ethics Education.

Mr. Kleinman received his BA in Psychology in 1995. After experiences with community work in the U.S. Peace Corps, adolescent residential treatment, and child psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, he graduated from Simmons with an MSW in 2001. He proceeded to work for six years at a community mental health center serving Boston area communities. There, he worked with children, adolescents, and families, both in and out of school; liaised often with state agencies, healthcare companies, and other organizations; and supervised other clinicians.

Mr. Kleinman believes strongly in the ethically-minded social work values of building on strengths and understanding individuals with respect to their community contexts. He looks forward to engaging students in the broad range of concepts critical to building a solid foundation for social work practice.
