Adjunct Faculty

Rick Hall, LICSW, LADC-I

Rick Hall joined the adjunct faculty at Simmons School of Social Work in 2011. Mr. Hall earned a BSSW from Marist College in 2004, an M.S.W. from Fordham University in 2005, and an MA in Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell in 2007. He is a Ph.D. candidate at Boston University’s Interdisciplinary Program in Sociology and Social Work; his research interests include decision making processes among primary care physicians using buprenorphine to treat opiate dependence and medical sociology focusing on health care provider / patient relationships.

Mr. Hall has been teaching various undergraduate courses in addiction counseling, interviewing skills, and sociology since 2005. He is the Program Director of the Monument Street Counseling Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Charlestown – an outpatient counseling center for adults with substance use and psychiatric disorders. His time is divided between providing individual & group psychotherapy, clinical supervision and administrative oversight of the center. His primary clinical focus is the application of motivational interviewing, brief treatment, and cognitive-behavioral therapy for individuals struggling with co-occurring substance use disorders and psychiatric disorders.
