Sara Emerson, M.S.W., LICSW

Sara Emerson is teaching social work with groups for the second time at Simmons SSW. She is also adjunct faculty at Boston College GSSW where she teaches group work as well. Ms. Emerson has a private practice in Cambridge where she sees individuals in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis as well as leading six weekly on-going psychotherapy groups. She completed her psychoanalytic training at the Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis (MIP) in 2007. She is actively involved in the American Group Psychotherapy Association and is currently president elect for the Northeast Society for Group Psychotherapy. In addition to presenting and teaching regularly in both organizations she has been involved in conferences in Belfast NI and Israel. In the summer of 2009 she chaired a panel on group supervision of clinicians who work with patients affected by civil strife in Belfast and Israel at the International Group Conference in Rome, Italy. She teaches at MIP, and is a supervisor for the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy.
