Patty Underwood, M.S.W., LICSW

Patty Underwood received her MSW in 2007 from Boston University. She has worked at Riverside Community Care since 2007 in various clinical roles and settings including adolescent day treatment, middle and high school outreach, and is currently at an outpatient clinic. She has a certificate in group work and has developed the group program at Riverside. Since 2007, Ms. Underwood has worked with the BU Hoarding Project, developing and testing group treatment interventions for hoarding disorder. She is experienced in working with clients who present with hoarding disorder, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. Her clinical practice is CBT-oriented with a strong mindfulness approach and she is EMDR trained. She is an instructor at Boston University School of Social Work, the current president of the International Association of Social Work with Groups, and has presented at conferences on the subjects of hoarding and groups. She has appeared on The Learning Channel's Hoarding: Buried Alive as a consulting clinician and has recently co-authored a book called, Group Treatment for Hoarding Disorder.
