Accelerated BA/MBA Program
New BA/MBA program offers options and flexibility
With the new Simmons combined BA/MBA program, you are now able to enroll in an accelerated yet very flexible program that will allow you to pursue your undergraduate degree along with an MBA degree. The program is designed for women who have as few as 20 or as many as 80 undergraduate credits already under their belt, but, who, for various reasons — family, finances, work — have been unable to complete their undergraduate degrees. Altogether, the combined degree program allows you to decrease the total number of credits needed for two degrees, saving you both time and money. As a Simmons student, you can enroll in both undergraduate and graduate courses on a part-time or full-time basis, and flexible enrollment models help you work around your busy schedule.
Here's how the new accelerated program works.
- Prospective BA/MBA candidates apply to the Dix Scholars program at Simmons. The Dix Scholars program is an undergraduate program for students 24 and older who have some college credits, but have been away from school for a while. Admissions is on a rolling basis, and if you have significant professional experience you can earn up to 24 additional college credits for your prior learning.
- Once enrolled at Simmons, you may choose your major and coursework under the guidance of the BA/MBA undergraduate advisor.
- At the end of your junior year (or once the you have earned a total of 92 credits, including transfer and prior-learning credits), you may apply to the MBA program as a BA/MBA candidate. If accepted, you will take two MBA courses during your senior year, which count toward both your undergraduate degree and your MBA degree.
- You will then graduate with a BA in May or August, and begin your MBA studies in September in one of the flexible day and/or evening programs ranging in length from one to three years.
