Located in the heart of Boston's Longwood Medical Area, the Simmons Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Health Care Management (CAGS) prepares individuals who have graduate degrees in other disciplines to be health care administrators and leaders. The certificate program is designed to build on each student's strengths and to introduce new concepts in health care and management.
Management and leadership are important skills for men and women seeking advancement in health care organizations. For example, senior clinicians with advanced degrees in the health professions (medicine, nursing, social work, pharmacy, nutrition and physical therapy) often are challenged by the "business side" of health care. Individuals who aspire to senior management or the C-Suite need special training in finance, organizational dynamics and leadership to be successful. Alternatively, professionals with general business or other non-clinical degrees wishing to transition into health care often are challenged by the unique requirements of the industry.
