Graduate Program

"As soon as I went to an open-house at Simmons and heard about the Entrepreneurship Program, I knew I had found the program for me. This was exactly what I needed to catapult myself to the next level and start my own non-profit organization. Already, I've built strong connections with women all around Boston through the help of Simmons and the entrepreneurship program. I've also had wonderful opportunities to share my venture with people through avenues such as the Raw Pitch Contest and the Silverman Business Plan Competition."

—Obiageli Ukadike, MBA Candidate/Entrepreneurship, '12

"Winning the Silverman Business Plan Competition has put me in touch with the true power of the SOM community, network and resources. I look forward to paving the way for Proxy, and supporting/promoting the entrepreneurship program in every way possible. It is the vehicle for woman entrepreneurs, and the world should know about it."

—Heatherjean MacNeil, '08/Entrepreneurship, 2008 Silverman Business Plan Competition Winner, Founder and CEO, Proxy Apparel

"As a participant in the Simmons entrepreneurship program, I had the opportunity to join a cohort of women who studied, achieved and supported one another and will continue to be a lifelong resource throughout my career."

—Amanda Thomas MBA '06, Certificate Program '07

The women entrepreneurs of Simmons make a difference.

In the Simmons Entrepreneurship Program, entrepreneurial success is measured in dollars of revenue and in social value created through new jobs, innovation, and/or public good. Each woman in the entrepreneurship program begins with her vision, building a venture plan supported by her cohort, faculty, coursework, extra-curricular training and a wide network of committed professional volunteers with skills and support to share. As a program for women, we celebrate and strategize how gender makes a difference in building business and life success. We welcome women from around the world and we benefit from the diversity and talent of our members.

You may want to launch the next high tech phenomenon, or take over your family enterprise. You may be looking to join 250,000 other American women, and increasingly many others globally, running a business at the $1M revenue mark, or find yourself at a life stage where a consulting practice or other flexible, service business is just right. You may be interested in launching a start-up or in building a change-agent leadership role for yourself within the corporate sphere. Whatever your entrepreneurial career objective, we have options for you at the Simmons School of Management.

Women have discovered the success, satisfaction and sense of purpose that are aligned with many of the benefits of being entrepreneurial. At Simmons School of Management (SOM), we've designed our entrepreneurship program specifically for women entrepreneurs to help them turn ideas into innovative and successful new businesses, social ventures or new ventures in existing firms.

Chart your course with wide and expert guidance:

  • What is the right start-up opportunity, for you?
  • What are investors looking for in funding a venture, and what do you need to know to negotiate with them successfully?
  • How can you place yourself in the growing and respected field of social entrepreneurship — business principles applied for social welfare?
  • How do community commitment and a personal orientation to leadership guide you in developing a "more-than-for-profit" business?
  • What knowledge and resources do you need to write a dynamic and useful business plan?
  • What happens after the launch? Tracking the high-growth management challenge.

Your studies will be accompanied by:

  • Ongoing opportunities to learn from guest experts including Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.
  • Networking events with successful entrepreneurs, investors, and other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem (including our annual Leading Women Entrepreneur Speaking Series and Silverman Business Plan Competition).
  • Classroom discussion about the challenges women face in funding, leading, networking, and negotiating their careers.
  • Participating in a cohort of women who study, achieve, and support one other in the program and after graduation.
