Simmons School of Management Awarded Second $10,000 Grant from The Boston Foundation

The School of Management has been awarded a second $10,000 grant from The Boston Foundation to continue its work under the auspices of Patricia Deyton, CGO Director and specialist in nonprofit management, to create a virtual manual for nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts. The manual provides overviews of essential areas of nonprofit management with multiple links to resources available on the web.

The creation of the manual is in line with the goals of The Boston Foundation to be a resource to the nonprofit sector. At the SOM, MBA students have been involved in the creation of the manual as graduate assistants and through independent study. The manual will go “live” on the new Boston Foundation website in June, 2007 with six completed modules. Several additional modules will be completed over the next few months, after which the Foundation intends to continue to work with the SOM to ensure that the manual continues to be up-to-date. This continuing work will include more opportunities for students to be involved in the project. The SOM will be highlighted in the manual as the academic partner for this innovative project.
