$300K grant awarded to CGO for work in Africa
The Center for Gender in Organizations (CGO) at Simmons School of Management has
been awarded a grant in the amount of $300,000 to continue its work in
collaboration with six sub-Saharan African universities to support change
initiatives for gender equity in order to enhance women’s opportunities in
higher education. Over the next two years CGO will work with six
universities located in Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda to strengthen
the recently created African Universities Gender Resource Network,
facilitate documentation of co-produced learning of practices, and provide
consultation and coaching directly to the contacts at the six universities
to assist in their managing and institutionalizing change for gender equity
and mainstreaming. Patricia Deyton, CGO Director, will be the principal
investigator with Evangelina Holvino, CGO Affiliate and Jacqueline Williams,
who is based in Africa, consulting to the project.
This significant grant is an indication of the confidence that the Carnegie Corporation has in CGO’s ability to assist in the change processes at the African Universities and increases CGO’s capacity to develop learning and resources in the field of gender equity in higher education.
