Blake-Beard tells Boston Globe to define values when creating work-life balance
The January 1 Boston Globe Balancing Acts column, “Life planning takes in the entire work-home picture” addressed this year’s popular New Year’s resolution: creating work-life balance. Many professionals today are trying to create strategies for balancing career, home, finances and even spirituality in their lives. Stacy Blake-Beard, associate professor at Simmons SOM teaches classes and workshops for executives and asks them to choose their three most cherished values and to consider how these are reflected in their lives. “I love the ‘aha’ moments that I see in people’s faces and eyes when they do this and realize, ‘I’ve listed these values, and I don’t see them reflected at all in my life.’”
