Jennifer Tichon '06 selected as the winner of the Reebok 101 "Make a Difference" contest; $1,000 donated to The Nemasket Group

On September 14, the Simmons Career Service Office arranged for a group of 15 MBA students and 23 undergraduate management students to visit Reebok’s corporate headquarters in Canton, MA. Several other local schools also participated totaling approximately 250 students. The students were given a first-hand look at how a global company like Reebok designs, produces and markets its products, competes in an ultra-competitive marketplace and maintains its corporate image while conducting business in a socially responsible way. Students were also introduced to the Reebok Human Rights Program—a Reebok hallmark. While at Reebok students were asked to write a brief statement about an organization they feel makes a difference in people’s lives. The person with the most convincing argument won a prize of a $1,000 donation from Reebok to the specified non-profit organization. Tichon selected and wrote about The Nemasket Group in Fairhaven, MA which provides services to the disabled. Tichon stated, “It is a very small organization and any tiny donation helps.” In addition to the gift to Nemasket, Simmons SOM will receive a $2,500 grant to be used to further a socially responsible initiative.
