Professor Ingols & Alumna Ishihara publish in The CASE Journal

Simmons SOM Associate Professor and CGO Faculty Affiliate Cynthia Ingols recently published her case study entitled, “Reborn Kyoto” in The CASE Journal in the fall of 2006. The study was co-authored by SOM Alumna Erika Ishihara ‘03.

“Reborn Kyoto” is the story of several Japanese women who want to help women in third world countries gain marketable skills to provide for their families. In Japan, the Japanese women gather old kimonos, disassemble them, and then take the beautiful old materials to poor, remote villages in such places as Cambodia. There the Japanese women teach the local women how to sew and make one-of-a-kind Western style clothes. The Japanese women then sell these clothes in the USA and Japan, thereby financing their future work in third-world countries.
