Simmons helps "tackle the leadership deficit"
Nationwide, companies are facing an oncoming leadership gap between aging baby boomers and the next generations. The August 6 Boston Globe article, “Tackling the Leadership Deficit, Colleges gear up to train students to take charge,” featured colleges striving to thwart this challenge by putting an emphasis on professional and leadership development. The article said, “At Simmons College in Boston, management students can takes classes in strategy and leadership and leadership and gender. Miranda Daniloff, an MBA student at Simmons, hopes her degree will launch her into a leadership position when she graduates. Daniloff, 43, an associate director of a research center at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, took classes in leadership training as well as how to motivate team members. ‘Because resources are limited in non-profits, you really have to know how to manage them. Every business skill I learn is important and transferable,’ she says.” The article also acknowledged the Simmons Leadership Conference, featuring keynote speeches by some of the nation’s top women leaders.
