Shapiro presents "Speak their language" for AMA Boston
Simmons SOM assistant professor Mary Shapiro presented “Speak their language: persuade in ways that make sense to your customer” at the AMA Boston Professional Development Series on Wednesday, March 22, 2006. Using “The Communications Diagnostic” tool she has developed that has been used by over 4,000 managers to improve their effectiveness with individuals and teams, Shapiro teaches how to communicate across four communication styles. Attendees learned: * How to understand how your effectiveness with customers depends on how well you navigate the differences in how you like to give information and how they like to receive it * How to identify your own “rules” for establishing relationships, communicating, and making decisions * Strategies for persuading others when their “rules” are very different * How to better understand what makes sense to your customer and package your message in a way they will respond positively to
