Blake-Beard quoted in PINK article on diversity

The February/March 2006 PINK article, “Concrete Ceiling, Corporate America Wants to Know Why It’s Losing the Best and Brightest Women of Color in this Age of Diversity,” looks at the current struggle for women of color in business. While blatant racism and sexism are harder to pick out, many women “can tell” that their jobs in middle management aren’t going anywhere. “Women of color can achieve their dreams of a passionate, engaging career and a fulfilling personal life, but not without a struggle.” Lack of appreciation in corporate America is driving many women, and especially women of color, out of the traditional corporate setting. The article gives suggestions to both women looking for successful careers and to businesses and corporations hoping to have a truly equitable diversity plan. Simmons SOM Associate Professor Stacy Blake-Beard was quoted in the article as a diversity industry leader.
