The Center for Gender in Organizations announces the selection of three women of color scholars in its new program, the CGO New Generation of Scholars Program. Each scholar was selected based upon the quality of her research, the relevance of the research to the work of CGO, and her commitment to complete writing on the topic within a three month period of time that will qualify for publishing as part of the CGO Insight Series. The National Council for Research on Women (NCRW) provided grant funding to CGO to begin this program.

The selected scholars are:

Dannielle Joy Davis, PhD., Assistant Professor, University of Texas at Arlington. Topic: Collegiality in Black and White: Barriers to Access of Multi-racial Networks Amongst Women.

Laquita C. Blockson, PhD., Associate Professor of Ethics and Entrepreneurship, College of Charleston, South Carolina. Topic: 21st Century Sojourner Truths: Gender and Ethnic Identity Influences in African American Women Entrepreneurs.

Tehmekah A. MacPherson (PhD expected 2009), Instructor, Women and Gender Studies Program, Syracuse University. Topic: Exploring Race, Ethnicity and Gender as Components of Identity.

The selection of the three scholars was made from a pool of applicants reviewed by six CGO affiliates: Stacy Blake-Beard, Evangelina Holvino, Karen Proudford, Laura Morgan-Roberts, Gelaye Debebe and Audrey Murrell. Each of the scholars will work with two or more of these affiliates for review and comment on her work. Publications are expected to be ready in June, 2009.
