CSO Executive in Residence

Susan Richards is our 2010-2011 Career Services Executive-In-Residence. Susan has extensive Health Care experience, with over 20 years in the field. Susan began her career in healthcare as a registered dietitian with a MS in nutrition and expertise in diabetes and obesity management. In one of her first jobs at the Joslin Diabetes Center she created, implemented, and ran all aspects of a high risk obesity weight management program. This experience in "business" led Susan to go back to get her MBA at the SOM and then on to continue her career in the business side of health care.
Since leaving Simmons Susan has held roles in pharmaceutical sales, health care information technology sales and consulting, account management, and disease management programing. Susan describes her background in health care as "eclectic" as she has worked and succeeded in a wide array of health care companies (for profit and non-profit) as well as roles. Her broad background allows her to provide both a balanced perspective and keen vision into the job market of today.
Susan currently works at Mass General Hospital in the recently created Network Development Department. As a Sr. Business Development Manager Susan works across multiple clinical and administrative areas on all levels to develop new and enhance existing relationships with physician practice groups and community hospitals to help expand access to care at MGH.
While Susan's career has mostly spanned healthcare, she has mentored people in multiple industries and functions, and greatly enjoys helping people as they think about career development, transistion, and the job search process.
