CGO hosts AUGERN network meeting in Uganda

Patricia and Stacy have returned from a week in Uganda where the African Universities Gender Equity Resource Network held its meeting in Kampala. The Network was created and is coordinated by CGO under the Carnegie Corporation Grant that funds CGO's consulting with five sub-Saharan African Universities.

The six women leading the Gender Equity and Advancement programs in their universities attended the meeting which included reports on progress, plans for publishing their collective learning, addresssing sustainabilty in the future, and other topics important to their work. Stacy provided a full day of training in the areas of mentoring and networking to the Network members. She also gave a presentation on mentoring to students and faculty at Makerere University in Kampala. Patricia was the keynote speaker at a celebration held by Makerere University which honored the promotion of six women faculty to tenured positions. Patricia's topic covered opportunities and challenges in the advancement of education for women and girls. Stacy and Patricia will be scheduling a time to discuss the trip with the SOM community in the near future.
