The mission of the Simmons School of Management is to educate women for power and principled leadership. MBA Office Updates Welcome to all of our new students that started in Foundations this week!! We had a great start and they are looking forward to this next chapter in their personal and professional lives!! Building Hours at SOM- Commonwealth Avenue Campus Bookstore hours for the satellite bookstore in Mockler have been posted on the SOM Gateway. These are the classroom assignments for the Fall 2008 semester: Authentic Leadership (Morgan-Roberts): Case Room 2 Academic Policy First Ever Travel Course for MBA Students! Scheduled for December 19 as of today! Much more info to come... All new students have received their IDs during Foundations. Returning students have new IDs in the MBA office, but you MUST turn in your old ID to get a new one! If you have lost your old ID, you will have to pay a $25 fee. Accounting Section Added on Wednesday Nights As of August 28th, we had 56 students registered in Financial Accounting. We have made the decision to add an additional section on Wednesday nights that will also be taught by Jane Mooney. We think this is better from both a teaching and learning perspective! Here is the schedule for the new section: Wednesdays, 6-9pm, Sept. 10th-December 8th. PLUS: Monday, Nov 24 and Monday, December 8 (Final Exam) Please also note that anyone planning to go to the CSO expo on December 3rd will be allowed to attend the Monday class the week that event is running! If you are interested and/or able to switch sections, please let Katlyn know by email at katlyn.cavanaugh@simmons.edu. The Authentic Leadership Course will be running AS SCHEUDLED. There will be NO changes to the Authentic Leadership schedule. |

News & Events The Simmons Entrepreneurship team seeks two MBA students to assist with a research study on Gender and Entrepreneurship Education. The time frame for the project is September and October of 2008 and will begin immediately. The hourly wage is $15. Any interested students should contact Professor Susan Duffy at susan.duffy@simmons.edu. Please put “Research Assistant” in subject line and attach your resume. Program on Negotiation Looking for Simmons Students to Participate in Their Student Leader Program Each year the Harvard Program on Negotiation has an opportunity for 2 student leaders from each of the related academic programs in the Boston area get together at least once to network and discuss possible collaboration opportunities. They would love to have a couple of students from Simmons involved, and their first open house is September 15th. Services Updates Networking night for all Simmons SOM alumnae and current students. Join us Tuesday, September 23rd for a night of socializing with your fellow Boston area alumnae at Vlora, Copley's newest and freshest Mediterranean restaurant. Stop by for a drink before you head home from work or meet a friend and stay for dinner. It will be a great opportunity to catch up with SOM friends, meet new ones and sample a new taste of Boston. Encourage prospective Simmons SOM students to join you as well. Free appetizers and cash bar. Linda & Mike would like to welcome all of the new students, and welcome back all of the returning students! We look forward to supporting you in your course work throughout the semester. If you are interested in contacting us, you will find our contact information on the SOM Library home page at http://my.simmons.edu/library/som. If you are interested in learning how to access the library’s resources from home or work, or would like to become more familiar with what the library has to offer you, please stop by for a library tour. We will be holding tours the first week of September on Tuesday 9/2 @ 12.15pm, Wednesday 9/3 @ 12.15pm, & Thursday 9/4 @ 5.15pm. An additional tour will be given the second week of September on Thursday 9/11 @ 5.15pm. Tours will last approx. 15 minutes. The library will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (8/30 – 9/1) and will be staffed Tuesday – Friday (9/2 – 9/5) from 8:30 – 4:30.
