Bio

Throughout his career, Dr. Weiss has been on the leading edge of supply chain thinking and practice—designing and leading global operations in several industries.  His organizations have achieved high performance results by integrating transportation, logistics, order fulfillment, manufacturing, customer services, planning, and materials functions.  His recent supply chain work concentrates on three areas: the development and achievement of global strategies, best practices involving operations in China, and effective implementation of systems and new technologies, such as RFID.

Dr. Weiss is also a senior lecturer at MIT, where he teaches International Supply Chain Management.  His previous roles in industry included vice president and senior executive at Digital Equipment Corporation, Polaroid, and i2 Technologies.  He continues his independent consultant work, in addition to teaching at Simmons.  Earlier in his career, Weiss co-founded Logistics Systems, Inc., which provided specialized consulting and software solutions to leading commercial and government organizations. Weiss has also presented on supply chain and logistics management at numerous conferences, in the US and internationally.
