Undergraduate Program

The Simmons School of Management entrepreneurship program for undergraduates creates learning opportunities for women interested in entrepreneurial thinking and venture creation.  We provide business and non-business degree students with practical experience in entrepreneurship through training in the classroom and activities with the regional business community.

If you are looking to:

  • Explore entrepreneurship as a career
  • Contribute to a family owned business
  • Launch your own venture
  • Work in a fast growth start-up

The Simmons Undergraduate Entrepreneurship program will partner with you as you determine and build your entrepreneurial career.

We integrate the best ideas, knowledge and practice from the field of entrepreneurship to prepare you for success.   Our students have the opportunity to gain critical competencies, grow their confidence, and build a network of advisors.

Simmons is a leading institution in the study and teaching of issues related to ethnic and racial diversity.  As a student, you will explore the particular issues women face as they build a business and negotiate for organizational success. With the number of women-owned companies growing at a rapid pace, there is no better place for venturing women to prepare than at Simmons School of Management.

Entrepreneurship coursework is available to business and non-business undergraduate students at Simmons College. Our recent courses included student representation from the following majors: management, communications, physical therapy, art therapy, history, retail management, and English literature.

Retail Entrepreneurship at Simmons College is the nation’s first program for undergraduates aimed at founding, owning, and managing innovative businesses in the retail sector. To prepare to own and manage in retail, students learn buying and vendor relationships, human resources, information technology strategies, security and loss prevention, and managerial innovations that have transformed consumer sales. Innovation concerns strategic structuring (mega-stores, chain stores, boutiques) delivery options (web, catalog, brick-and-mortar) and the opportunities provided by globalization on both the sourcing and sales.

"The elective courses at Simmons College enabled me to see the 'big picture' of running a business.   After studying many businesses and working for my family's company, I know that balancing all aspects of running an organization is what makes a company truly successful."
