Teaching

An emphasis on excellence in teaching is at the core of the Simmons experience. In our entrepreneurship courses we strive to give students the skills and knowledge they need to:

  • create new ventures that have a sustainable, profitable, and competitive advantage;

  • return to an existing organization and/or family business to successfully manage and grow the business; and

  • import the entrepreneurial way of thinking and acting in existing corporations, non-profits, and governmental institutions.

Professor Teresa Nelson is the SOM's Elizabeth J. McCandless professor of entrepreneurship. Nelson leads the SOM's efforts to expand the entrepreneurship curriculum for MBA and undergraduate students; develop educational programs for women business owners; bring leading entrepreneurs to Simmons to interact with students, alumnae, and members of the community; and undertake cutting-edge research on women in entrepreneurship.
