Reception honoring Maranyundo School to be held at Simmons School of Management

CGO Distinguished Scholar Joyce Fletcher will host a tea in honor of Maranyundo School, a beacon of hope for girls in Rwanda. This event is part of the SOM/CGO Women in Nonprofit Network series. Head of School Sister Marie Juvenal Mukanurama and other key personnel will be present.

Women Enhancing Democracy Seminar- Patricia Deyton's Report from Lithuania

SOM Professor Patricia Deyton was an invited representative of the Gender Initiative of the U.S. Department of State in Vilnius, Lithuania from June 26 to July 1, 2011. The purpose of the initial invitation was to participate in the one-day Women Enhancing Democracy (WED): Best Practices Seminar on June 30. The Women Enhancing Democracy (WED): Best Practices Seminar was the capstone of her travel to Lithuania and addressed three vital areas of how women enhance democracy and how democracy enhances the status of women in the areas of economic independence, education and the work of combating violence against women and human trafficking.

Patricia Deyton, Director of CGO, invited to participate in a seminar entitled Women Enhancing Democracy

Patricia Deyton, Director of the Center for Gender in Organizations, and former Executive Director of the Council of World Women Leaders, has been invited by the government of Lithuania to participate in a seminar entitled Women Enhancing Democracy (WED) on June 30th. This seminar will take place on the margins of the Community of Democracies Ministerial. It is also hoped that Secretary Clinton will be participating in the seminar. In addition to participating in the one-day WED seminar, she will provide two public lectures on gender equity, one at the American Center in Vilnius and one at the American Corner in Siavliai.

CGO Study Finds Alliances Between Men and Women Can Close Women's Leadership Gap in the Workplace

A new study released by the Center for Gender in Organizations (CGO) at the Simmons School of Management, suggests that contrary to popular belief, the most effective help in resolving subtle gender dynamics at work may come from a male boss. The study also found that despite success in combating many forms of blatant gender discrimination, covert bias is alive and well.

Cathy E. Minehan Named New Dean of Simmons College School Of Management

A recognized business and financial expert who led the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 13 years as President and CEO, Cathy E. Minehan has been named the new Dean of the Simmons College School of Management, the nation's first MBA program focused on women. Minehan will begin her tenure at Simmons August 1.

CGO hosts AUGERN network meeting in Uganda

Patricia and Stacy have returned from a week in Uganda where the African Universities Gender Equity Resource Network held its meeting in Kampala. The Network was created and is coordinated by CGO under the Carnegie Corporation Grant that funds CGO's consulting with five sub-Saharan African Universities.
