Simmons MBA Alumna Recognized for Leadership Excellence

On September 19, 2013, Simmons MBA  Alumna, Marcela Aldaz-Matos was recognized for her leadership excellence at The National Diversity Council honored with a "2013 Most Powerful and Influential Women Award". 

Colin Powell.jpgCurrently, Marcela is the Director, Diversity & Inclusion at MassMutual Financial Group where she is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company's Employee Resource Groups and company-wide Veteran's initiative. Marcela is focused on leading the change to harness the business value of diversity and inclusion to yield high business impact.

Marcela received the award at the 4th Annual National Conference's Most Powerful & Influential Woman Awards Breakfast, which featured General Colin Powell as the keynote speaker. This prestigious event brought together women leaders from all over the U.S. to celebrate their professional excellence, their accomplishments throughout their careers and their leadership and commitment to community well-being.

Marcela has 20 years of dedicated community service and is the National Chair, Women of ALPFA, Strategy Development Committee. In this role, she leads the development of the strategic framework for the development of Latinas leaders in the US. She is also the Executive Vice President for ALPFA Boston, the leading Latino professional association in the U.S. In addition to this, Marcela is a board member of the Girl Scouts, Eastern Massachusetts. 

Marcela was named in 2013 as one of "Top 100 Women We Admire" by the Boston Ad Club's Leadership Forum, she is the recipient of "2012 United Way, Women's Initiative Award", the "Girl Scouts, National Innovations Award" and she was also named one of "100 Most Influential Latinos in Massachusetts" by PowerMeter 2012.
