Nancie H. Herbold Ed.D., R.D., L.D.N.


Dr. Herbold was appointed the third Ruby Winslow Linn Professor of Nutrition. She serves on the Massachusetts Nutrition Board, an advisory board to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. She also is deeply invested in her work at Simmons as chair of the Department of Nutrition, coordinator of the dietetic internship program, co director of the Hygiene and Health Center and a teaching faculty member.

In 2008, Dr. Herbold was named Outstanding Dietetic Educator of the Year by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She served as the president of the Massachusetts Dietetic Association and also as a two term Delegate to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics House of Delegates representing Massachusetts. She is the recipient of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences Faculty Community Service Award.

Outside of the classroom Dr. Herbold conducts research, consult on grants, presents papers at professional meetings, and is the co —editor of two books. Dr. Herbold earned her Bachelor's degree in nutrition from the University of Rhode Island and both, her Master's in Health Science (Nutrition) and her doctorate in Educational Technology from Boston University. She completed her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital (Boston, Mass.). Professor Herbold co-directs the Simmons Center for Hygiene and Health in Home and Community, which she co-founded. She is a registered dietitian who worked in hospitals and as a consultant to home health agencies, corporations, and individuals.

At Simmons she teaches advanced community nutrition, nutrition proposal development, nutrition research project and classes for the dietetic internship.
