Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, now living in Storrs, Connecticut, Bill is an academic librarian working in Massachusetts public higher education at Worcester State University. As Assistant Librarian (Cataloging), his duties include: cataloging & classification in all formats, authority file management, ILS systems management, reference duties, and information literacy instruction.
He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Villanova University, and studied graduate level Continental philosophy at Boston College. He received his MSLIS at Simmons College SLIS in 2005. His previous career was as a programmer/analyst in private sector Management Information Systems in IBM AS400 minicomputer environments.
Research Interests: Subject analysis in cataloging and indexing and its impact on bibliographic control; information retrieval and the problem of relevance; theories of knowledge organization; philosophical and epistemological foundations and problems of library and information science.
He is a member of ALISE, ACRL, ALCTS, ASIS&T, and ISKO.
