Cynthia Landrum currently serves as the Adult Services Supervisor and Web Services Coordinator at the Glendale Public Library (Glendale, AZ) where she leads a team of 16 library and information technology professionals in the development and implementation of face-to-face and virtual service initiatives. Previously she served as the Multicultural and Business librarian where she successfully leveraged and administered a number of grants, sponsorships, and community partnerships to promote diversity and dialogue across the Phoenix Metropolitan area.
Cynthia is also the current President of the Arizona Library Association. During her term, she has collaborated with the State Librarian and Ebsco Marketing to develop a statewide public awareness campaign highlighting the value of libraries during tough times. Cynthia also provided the guiding vision for the First Annual Arizona Library Lovers on the Lawn, an event designed to increase public awareness and participation in library related legislative activities.
Cynthia holds an undergraduate degree in Linguistics from Northwestern University. She was the recipient of the EJ Josey Scholarship awarded by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association in 2005. She earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006.
Cynthia's commitment to both diversity and librarianship is demonstrated through recruitment and mentoring of information professionals from underrepresented and underserved groups; advising local organizations and educating colleagues on the importance of diversity in librarianship. She currently advocates in the Phoenix arts community; volunteers with a First Institutional Baptist Church library ministry and serves as the Historian for the Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
